Carl at the World Glider Aerobatic Championships 2018

Thursday, 16 August, 2018

Carl travelled with the British Glider Aerobatic Team to the 21st WGAC 2018 in Zbraslavice, Czech Republic 6th – 11th August.

Carl who's still only 17 took up gliding aged 14 and developed a passion for aerobatics in 2017.  Under the focused instruction of Paul Conran at Lasham Gliding Club in Hampshire he was able to qualify at the ‘Advanced’ level a week before the championships.

The event included both an individual and team competition of 35 accomplished pilots from around the world.  Carl flew particularly well in the first Free Unknown Programme finishing 10th, and continued to fly well in the remaining four sequences ultimately securing 23rd place in the individual competition with a score 60.516% - along with 6th place in the team competition, ranking second of the four British pilots.

Carl’s plan is to qualify at Unlimited level in time for the next championships that will take place in Romania in 2019.

Well done Carl!
