5 new solo pilots at Kent Gliding Club in a matter of weeks

The club has continued in its role to develop new members with 5 members achieving their first solo flights within a metter of weeks.
The delightful Cherry Charters was replaced as newest solo pilot by Barry Morgan.
Then followed Louis Willcocks on 2nd October, and a double act on 6th October with Stan Medved and our French connection, Olivier Banal, going solo.
Well done to them all.

Instructors Meeting - 15th October 2016

All the club's flying instructors are requested to make the effort to attend an instructors meeting to be held in the clubhouse at 6.30pm on Saturday 15th October 2016.
The principal topic will be how the club intends to develop the training of its members to provide improved efficiency and greater satisfaction for both trainees and instructors.

Club Annual General Meeting 19th March 2016

Notice has been issued of the clubs AGM which will be held on Saturday 19th March, commencing 1800 hours.
This provides members with the opportunity to discuss and vote on the policies and future direction of the Club. Be there to have your oppinions heard.

KGC Trophy Awards 2015

At the annual dinner held on 5th December, members gathered for the traditional dinner and social evening which included the presentation of the annual awards for achievements throughtout the year.


The following trophies were presented:


- League One Ladder Winner      -        Tony Moulang

- League Two Ladder Winner      -         Martin Hardy

- Silver "C" League                        -        Phil Dwyer

- Best Flight Trophy                     -         Tony Moulang

Dates or your diary- Special General Meeting and Task Week 2016

SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING of the club is be be held at 1800 hours on 13th February 2016 - to consider the Rules of the Club is association with CASC status.
TASK WEEK 2016 -  Will be hald from 20th August to 28th August 2016.
                               - Dates for a mini task week to be held earlier in the year yet to be finalised.


Members ariving at the club on the morning of 15th June 2015 were surprised, but delighted to see a line of wave clouds running parallel to the north downs.

Launching soon after 10.00am, two of the club's K21's found the lee wave above Challock roundabout.

The cloud extended to Rochester providing lift of 400 feet per minute. Those lucky enough to experience these conditions thoroughly enjoyed their flights. 



Mini Task Weekend - May 2015

 A Mini Task Weekend for club members is being organised from 22nd to 25th May.
This is an opportunity not only to undertake Cross Country Tasks (with prizes!) and, for those less experienced, cross country training will be available.
Make a note of this in your diary.

AGM - Date for your diary

The Club's AGM is scheduled to be held on the evening of Saturday 11th April 2015.
Please make a note of this in your diary and make every effort to attend to contribute to the continued success of your club.

Results of Club's Cross Country Task week

Over the period from 23rd to 31st August the Club's annual task week was held.

Despite not the best of weather for cross country flights, task were set and attempted on 6 out of the 10 available days.

Thanks, in particular, are due to Mike Moulang for setting tasks and Dean Farrugia for scoring the results.


League 1: 10 gliders competed in league 1. The winner being Peter Carpenter (LS8), closely followed by David Crimmins (ASW20) in 2nd place, with the Arcus piloted by Tony Moulang/Graham Drury in 3rd place.


Successful club expedition to Shenington

12 members of the club, together with 7 gliders, recently returned from a successfuly weeks flying at Shenington in the Cotswolds.

This was the 3rd year that the club has visited Shenington reflecting the warm welcome received and good opportunities for cross-country flying with ample fields available for landing out should this become necessary.
